PagaNZ Magazine

PagaNZ Magazine

July 2008 - Please note that we're currently on a hiatus due to a decrease in combined available time to work on the magazine. Fingers crossed this will change soon.
Our apologies for this delay and please keep the offers of help coming and a huge thank you to the people who have come forth with offers of support thus far!

PagaNZ will be producing a quarterly magazine with the first issue being available from the 1st of March 2008.
The aim of the magazine is to provide a resource for the New Zealand Pagan Community.
Our plan is for each issue to focus on the season which has passed and the season to come.
We've divided the year into blocks of three months.
We decided against covering or focussing on the Sabbats as has been done often in Pagan oriented magazines and instead put the focus on the seasons. To do this we've broken the year into blocks of three months, and labelled them by the seasons.

Autumn covers March, April, May.
Winter covers June, July, August.
Spring covers September, October, November.
Summer covers Decemeber, January, February.

Each issue will cover the season to come and the season that has passed.
Our plans for each issue include:
  • An overall theme for each issue - possibly tied to the season to come.

  • Events that are happening in the season to come.

  • Focus on a group in the community.

  • Competition.

  • Child-oriented content.

  • A rundown on the season that has passed from individuals around the country.

  • Focus on a particular path.

  • Paid advertising to help pay for costs.

As well as the staple of any magazine - articles! We're looking at providing a variety of articles with an attempt to focus on, though not exclusively, subjects pertinent to New Zealand. For example, covering Matariki is pretty much a given for the Winter issue.

Currently, the magazine will be an A5 sized booklet, with mainly monochromatic pages, maybe a colour insert, and a plain colour cover for $4 a copy.
The longterm plan is to offer a more professional and substantial look, professionally printed.

If there's something you'd like to see in a magazine for New Zealand Pagans please let us know. You can use the Contact Us form, or there's an area in the Forums to discuss the magazine.
